Location: The St Helena French FarmHouse is essentially your very own 70-acre national park. Located on the county line, you don’t have to choose between Napa or Sonoma – you can have both.

Bucolic: Because of our significant acreage and proximity to large wineries and their vineyards, we are necessarily in a rural location. County roads leading to the FarmHouse are bucolic and winding.

Hotel services are available: Our property is of equal quality to any of the most noteworthy high-end hotels in our region, such as Auberge de Soleil or Meadowood. But please note: we are 50% of the price of these famous hotels. The differential is, of course, levels of service and thereby – labor costs. At The FarmHouse, you can have both an extravagant property as well as highly personalized service. Still, the latter must necessarily be at an additional fee as service fees have been removed from our lodging pricing, which is calculated at standard vacation rental usage.  We encourage guests to utilize our staff for all their special needs and wishes ~ at a fee for service. Our concierge can design the trip of a lifetime, which only a local who constantly studies the wine, wineries, and all regional offerings can have at their fingertips. We are happy to quote on defined service requests or bill by the hour.

We are able to host a social gathering for up to a total of 45 guests:  This number is resident and day guests combined. We have 2 commercial-grade kitchens, 2 large BBQ, and 2 fire pits between the main FarmHouse and the CookHouse, separated by the “fit-bit” hill of our driveway.  No rentals are needed as we have a variety of furnishings and table, glass, and serve-ware in numerous options that are free for guest use.

70 acres of paradise, your own private national park on a ridge at the Napa/Sonoma county line affords easy access and touring of both valleys. Endless views across the infinity edge pool to Mount St Helena and beyond, nature is just BIG up here. Located atop the celebrated Spring Mountain appellation, world famous wineries are moments away. A profundity of the time-honored agricultural and culinary traditions are thriving all around us. Small events of up to 35 are possible. A divine place to gather, celebrate, rest, unfurl, play, share, discuss, plan, ponder…. Halcyon days await…..

Your vacation time is precious. From The FarmHouse you do not have to choose between Napa or Sonoma, you can have both but when each county has 400 plus wineries that cover a vast area, it is hard to plan. An insider’s tip:  let our concierge bring in some wineries of choice to do tasting on property. If guests want to visit some vineyards or wineries, choose a couple of the world famous ones nearby thus avoiding hours in transport driving around the valleys

At an elevation of 2600 feet (slightly above neighboring Pride Winery), we are rarely affected by the bay area fog or “marine layer”. For vacationers, this guarantees endless warm summer nights and much hotter average temperatures during the day – ideal for taking advantage of the pool and grounds. The nights are always cool; we have an idyllic climate. Views of both valleys, Napa and Sonoma, spread out  around you from this vantage point at the ”top of the wine world.”

All the bedrooms are air-conditioned to be sure. This is basically a state of the art “green” structure with superb climate control. For cooler periods we have radiant floor heat throughout.

From the St Helena French FarmHouse you can drop down to the center of either valley, approaching your destinations from the “side” thus avoiding the encumbered main valley north/south traffic. We are 2 hours from San Francisco, Oakland, and Sacramento airports. There is a regional airport in Santa Rosa, 45 min from the house, which is a delight whenever possible, with several commuter flights per day from Seattle, San Diego, Los Angeles, Denver and Phoenix.

The understated goal of the design is to optimize guests’ ability to sense and absorb the splendors of rural Napa and Sonoma County. The gardens at the house are noteworthy: wisteria droop across the front porch and roses abound in the side yard. A floral and herbal cutting garden are designed for residents’ use during their stay (seasonal).

The chemical free pool is 60 feet long with numerous in-water benches from which to sit and take in the views of the valley below. The surrounding deck exceeds 3000 sq ft with barbecue area and fire-pit, 7 person (known to hold more!) hot tub, bocce and a media room with 70″ flat screen and surround sound. The fire pit at the edge of the pool deck, will be stacked, ready for your match to set alight. 

Hand-embroidered, trosseau bed linens await for you to sleep ever-so deeply in.

The kitchen was designed for our cadre of famous regional chefs, thus professional quality: 10′ island, 4′ range, 3 refrigerators, 2 dishwashers, state of the art cooking equipment. Full sets of dishes, glasses, and tableware for 40 plus are free for your use. 

The owner, a European-trained interior designer, has used antique furnishings and finishes throughout. The refinement of the design adds esseentially to the overall experience and level of relaxation on offer at this awe-inspiring property.

PARTICULARS:

Check-in is guaranteed by 4:00 p.m. and checkout is at 11:00 a.m. 
A caretaker lives on a neighboring property, so unlike most vacation rentals, you can be assured of better oversight and assistance; someone is always on call 8am to 8pm. 

While the FarmHouse offers the ultimate in privacy and luxury, guests may have an occasional encounter with wildlife.

We are 25 minutes from the corner of Highway 12 and Calistoga Rd in the Sonoma Valley or just under 25 minutes from the center of St Helena in the Napa Valley. The house is located off of a 1.5 mile winding, gravel lane.

  • Cancel up to 90 days before your trip and get a refund less a service fee of $350; cancel within 90 days of arrival and the reservation is non-refundable, unless you or we are able to find someone to replace your reservation.
  • All credit card holders must be aged 25 years and older at check-in. Imprint of card is required for incidentals at the time of arrival.
  • County Enforced Quiet hours: 10:00 p.m. to 8:00 a.m. every day, year round. Outdoor amplified music is not permitted at any time, per county regulations.
  • Limiting the number of vehicles on the private road shared with neighbors is paramount: a max of 4 vehicles are permitted for overnight guests.
  • Day guests are by written approval only; fees apply
  • To guarantee quality of service, outside vendors are not permitted. We have a significant list of best chefs, caterers, transport companies and others that will be shared upon booking. 
  •  The speed limit on our lane is 15 miles per hour. Please be respectful of our neighbors – both 2 footed and

EVENT BASICS AT THE FARMHOUSE:

  •  # of guests allowed (overnight and day). Combined max not to exceed: 35
  • For an event of more than 18 people, you must rent out the entire property (excluding the barn) which includes 3 buildings and up to 10 bedrooms. Event fees will apply with a higher charge for day guests.
  • We gladly share lists of all sorts of possible vendors of note that might be required for any event. We do not book or schedule vendors without a fee for service as part of our concierge offerings.
  •  Events of more than 20 people having 3 or more vendors will require a coordinator at least for the day of the event. We can provide this service and quote a fee based on your event particulars. Alternatively, independent event coordinators are acceptable upon our review and approval.
  • Respecting our neighbors and the environment as well as the safety of our guests are our number one concern; therefore, we have strict conditions controlling the number of cars and traffic on the shared gravel road to which we can make no exceptions

WHAT IS INCLUDED/ALLOWED IN THE EVENT FEE AT THE FARMHOUSE:

  • 70 bucolic acres for your exclusive use. Many have said: “It’s like your own national park!”
  • Numerous exquisite, one-of-a kind venues to choose from. Review of our video best displays all of the options
  • 9 am to 10 pm use of Property day of the event (as long as the event does not take place on arrival day)
  • Many spectacular locations for incredible photo opportunities: view, forest, pond, vintage furniture, FarmHouse interiors, summit.
  • 2 Commercial grade kitchens: 1 in the main FarmHouse, 2nd commercial kitchen in the Cookhouse, 
  • 2 Commercial BBQs
  • Commercial dishwashers and refrigerators, Ice Machine capacity of 365 lbs/day
  • Extensive outdoor seating throughout the property including outdoor dining, lounge and deck chairs and cathedral style for 40 on the summit deck
  • Use of our tables and chairs is part of our event fee. No rentals of furnishings, tableware or serve ware are allowed. At The FarmHouse, we have a variety of table and chairs options to choose from. We do charge for moving/setup/break down of furniture.
  • Use of our standard table service for +/- 35: 6 piece white “wicker”china, 5 piece stainless flatware with serving utensils, 5 piece glassware which is stored in both kitchens. The FarmHouse has significant options for upgrades to vintage table service from our extensive onsite collection of fine china, vintage linens, champagne buckets, elaborate serving platters, and vintage accent furnishings. There is a fee for these upgrades but charges are industry competitive and do not bare the considerable delivery charges of off-site rental agencies.
  • 2 Fire Pits: at FarmHouse and at Cook House; generously stocked with wood
  • No corkage fees, any wine of your choice may be used
  • The flexibility to choose a chef or caterer of your liking (chef must visit property, our review and approval required)
  • Flowers from our large cutting garden (seasonal and is not guaranteed for multiple bouquets). We have an accomplished floral designer on staff, please inquire.
  • Vanishing edge 65 foot pool with 3,500 sq ft deck affording sweeping views across Sonoma Valley

We are happy to give you our vendors list, review your ideas, and explain our vintage rentals; however, we do not provide booking of vendors nor day of coordination within our event staff.
  • Site Tour for you and any agreed to number of vendors.
  • Three hours of time for questions/answers with our events manager including any and all tours of The FarmHouse. This includes phone, email and in person consultation. Please know we are most happy to dedicate as much time as any guest prefers for planning of an event. Above 3 hours becomes a fee for service at $75/hr. See following for concierge service options.
  • Our Caretaker will always be on call for events,(on property or within 20 minutes drive at our neighboring property) so any maintenance issues can be dealt with in as timely a manner as possible. Because of the rural nature of the Wine Country and as per our contract, we cannot guarantee same day repairs – as we would prefer. We always strive to create the perfect event or vacation.
  • No portable toilets required for groups up to 25

WHAT IS NOT INCLUDED/PROVIDED IN THE EVENT FEE?

Additional Concierge services, Event Insurance*, Parking or Shuttle Service, Catering/Chefs, Tents, Tables and Chairs.,Florist, Photography, Videography, Cake, DJ, Acoustic band, officiate, onsite maintenance or housekeeping. Also not included is the moving or rearranging of any of our furnishings and equipment, coordination or hiring of vendors, day of the eveent coordination/supervision. 

*We have a broker who will provide you with a 1,000,000 one day event insurance policy for approximately $250.00.

We recently stayed at the St. Helena FarmHouse with a large group. It was an absolutely gorgeous place to spend our time in Wine Country!! We had a group of 7 couples (14 people) for a 40th birthday trip, and it was just awesome. The house is beautifully decorated, a wonderfully equipped gourmet kitchen, wonderful sound system. It has everything… pool, bocce ball, overlook deck, outdoor table for dining, hot tub, awesome media room.
